Floor Coverings
Design from the Bottom Up
When considering remodeling a lower level, Carpet One's Vice-President of Sales, Cindy Wills, advises customers to start from the bottom - with new floor coverings. "The flooring is really the foundation of everything you're going to do in a room," she said. "It is always the key to a good finished product."
Though carpet is popular in lower levels due to its warmth, many people are taking advantage of In-Floor Heating systems that allow for a hard surface such as hardwood floors and ceramic tile.
"Area rugs have become such a huge part of decorating," Wills said. "They are easily changed and rotated with the seasons; you can change the whole look and feel of a room for just a few hundred dollars."
Wills recommends allowing approximately one month to six weeks for a full remodeling project. "Exploring multiple options and using samples takes time," she emphasizes. "But planning ahead relieves stress."
